Happy holidays to all! I had the privilege of making music with a wide variety of people this year, and may it continue into 2016. First gig of the year is with Turkish-Argentine-British vocalist Irem Bekter at Upstairs on January 6, 2016.

My year closed out with a record by my São Paulo brethren, Grooverdose. Via the magic of e-mail I got to play on two tracks, one featuring fellow Montrealers Lou Piensa & Meryem Saci of Nomadic Massive, and the one below with up-and-coming MC Tassia Reis. Enjoy!

After nearly 5 years of collaboration, my song cycle ALICUANTA, co-composed with vocalist Gitanjali Jain Serrano, is now available on my Bandcamp!

Summer is upon us, and David is gearing up for an especially busy season! It kicks off Thursday June 19, 2014 with vocalist and songwriter Marion at Les Francofolies! It’s her homecoming from a couple of years in Havana, and we’ll be playing music from her new album, Ahora existo. Alicuanta hits the studio that weekend for the long-awaited album, to be released late in 2014. Then Vox Sambou hits the road for many dates throughout Ontario (and a stop in Québec City). August will see the premiere of a new project, Cabbage Alley, dedicated to the swampy goodness of New Orleans funk, as well as the return of Teresina Quartet.

We are pleased to announce that Alicuanta will be restaged in Toronto as part of the Panamerican Routes/Rutas Panamericanas festival, presnted by Aluna Theatre. The shows will be held March 5 & 6, 2014, at the Daniels Spectrum (585 Dundas E.). I’ll be returning to my hometown of Toronto a few times in early 2014 for some very special performances. More information can be found on the Gigs page.

January 8th & 9th I’ll be performing at The Rex with drummer Jim Hillman’s Teresina Quartet, his group devoted to Brazilian music. It’s been four years since I played my old stomping grounds.
The following night, January 10, I team up once again with one of my early mentors, the award-winning trumpeter Brownman, at his new artistic home of Mây.
In March 2014, Alicuanta will be re-staged at the Daniels Spectrum as part of Aluna Theatre’s Panamerican Routes festival. Keep an eye on Facebook and Twitter for more up-to-date information as it comes.
